Naomi Watts

 

Naomi Ellen Watts was born 28 September 1968. She made her film debut in Australia in For Love Alone (1986) that was followed by three tv series: Hey Dad.. (1990), Brides of Christ (911) and Home and Away (1991) and Flirting (1991). After moving to the United States, Watts initially was not a successful actress, acting in small-scale film until she was a part of David Lynch's psychological thriller Mulholland Drive in 2001 as an aspiring actress. This role started her rise to the international spotlight. Watts was later chosen to play a journalist who was tortured in The Ring (2002). She was nominated to the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as a grieving mother in Alejandro film 21 Grams (2003). She continued to climb the ranks of stardom with roles in I Heart Huckabees (2004) and King Kong (2005) as also Eastern Promises (2007) and The International (2009). Watts was also nominated for the Academy Award as Best Actress for her performance in The Impossible (2012). In the 2010s, Watts appeared in films such as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014) St. Vincent (2015), While We're Young (2016), The Glass Castle (2017) and Luce (2018). Watts also continued to play in blockbusters, and made appearances in the Divergent franchise (2015-2016).
