Rashida Jones

Rashida Jones was the younger daughter of media producer, mogul, Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton. She has an older sister, Kidada Jones, as well as five half-siblings through the various relationships between her father and his other partners. Her father is African-American and her mother is Ashkenazi Jewish (a descendant from emigrants to Russia and Latvia). Rashida was raised in Reform Judaism. She grew up in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California. Jones stated that her mixed-race heritage was not recognized by society until the 1970s. Jones has made her professional acting debut in The Last Don, a mini-series that aired in 1997 based on the novel by Mario Puzo. In 1997, Rashida graduated from Harvard University. She attended the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks (California). The school was voted the most likely to Be Successful. Her name is Arabic (O+-O'UO-O(c)) for "Major adult, mature or wise". Quincy Jones III, their father, was also featured in the opening, reciting Shakur's lyrics "Starry Night". The poem is the inspiration for the song's name. Rashida's father, who's African-American, has a less significant amount of English, Scottish and Welsh ancestral ancestry (some people who are ancestors to Rashida's African ancestors are from the Tikar people from Cameroon). Rashida's mother, Ashkenazi Jewish (of Russian Jewish heritage as well as Latvian Jewish heritage), is Rashida. Her maternal grandparents are from South Carolina and Mississippi. Her maternal grandfather was born in New York, and her maternal grandmother was born in Dublin, Ireland, of Eastern European Jewish origin. At the time of writing, 2009, has played three different characters with the title "Karen" on the cult classic comedy shows on TV (Freaks and Geeks (1999), Stella (2005) and The Office (2005)).
