Bonnie Wright

Bonnie Francesca Wright, born 17 February 1991 is an English actress. She also works as an actor, director, activist as well as an actress. Her most famous role is that of Ginny Weasley, the Harry Potter film series's main character. Born in London, Wright portrayed the role for ten consecutive years until she was cast in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II (2011). Wright appeared in several independent films after the film series. The films received not well-received. In 2013 she made her stage debut in Peter Ustinov’s The Moment of Truth at the Southwark Playhouse. She also received a bachelor’s degree in filmmaking from the University of the Arts London. In 2012, Wright established BonBonLumiere and began making short films. Her first directorial project was the coming-of-age-drama Separate We Come, Separate We Go (2012) which starred David Thewlis, which was released at the Cannes Film Festival to critical applause. She directed Know Thyself (2016), featuring Christian Coulson, and Sextant (2016), both of which featured landscape and emotion as the main themes. Wright's trilogy Phone Calls, which was presented at Tribeca Film Festival 2017, featured three episodes. Medusa’s Ankles (2018) featuring Kerry Fox, Jason Isaacs and based upon A. S. Byatt's The Matisse Stories. She also produced music videos for Scarlett Johansson, Pete Yorn and Sophie Lowe. Wright has been recognized for her environmental activism; she also acts as an ambassador for the charity Greenpeace and Lumos.
