Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). Her family moved abroad when she was just three. Summer was a student at British and American schools as her family travelled abroad. she returned home to her hometown town of Pasadena just short of her 14th birthday. Attracted by the idea of becoming an actress from the age of five, Summer took her first acting class at the age of 14. Nine months later, she enlisted an agent/manager to begin her full-time job. When she isn't working,, she studies at a college and working towards her degree. The actress was named one of the "Ten Actors To Watch" by Variety (2007). Nominee for Best Actress – Spirit Award. At the age of 14, Bishil started acting classes. In just a year, she was hired by an agency and manager. Bishil started her career as a character on the Nickelodeon TV show Just for Kicks. After that she was offered an agreement with a management and an agency. Her most memorable role was in the film of Alan Ball, Towelhead. It is an adaptation of the novel with the same title. Slate critic Dana Stevens said, "Her performance is the truest thing in a movie that, despite its best intentions, is completely fake and mildly embarrassing, like an extended PSA concerning inappropriate touching." Bob Strauss writes for many Los Angeles newspapers and states that Bishil "...is one of the most natural actresses in film of all time. In the September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil who is an unproven "...newcomer performs an enthralling and confident performance in the role of Jasira. In 2009, she was a part of Wayne Kramer's Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her performance. She was chosen to portray Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's film The Last Airbender, and was supposed to be the focus of the planned but never-produced sequel.
