Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara is a famous American performer and actress and songwriter, both of Irish origin. The passionate, fiery roles she appeared in range of American films were well-loved by the green-eyed beauty with flashing hair and fiery eyes. Her beauty and glamour were much appreciated. Her name was also known as the Queen Of Technicolor in Hollywood. Her characters onscreen reflected her own brave, strong spirit who fought to be recognized and a part of the world of males. She described herself as "the tough Irish girl", and she would not give up her respect for other people in order to be able to play the roles she was entitled to due to merit. She stood up to injustices and unfair treatment of women actors during her film career, and gained a lot if admirers. Her autobiography, "Tis herself", released in 2004, provided an open description of her experience, as well as her struggles as she climbed the ladder to achieve success. She was an adventurous person who was never afraid to perform her own stunts. In the course of her career she was in more than 60 films and gained an enormous amount of fame throughout the world. Following her departure from Parra and getting married, she met Charles F. Blair Jr. in the year 1968. He was a brigadier in the past and chief pilot, and was an early pioneer in transatlantic aviation. O'Hara finally retired after a couple of years of marriage. But her joy was fleeting since Blair was killed in a fatal plane crash in 1978. In the same year she was diagnosed with uterine carcinoma and required urgent surgery. The cancer eventually cleared. In the following years her health declined and she experienced six heart attacks, memory loss in the short term and diabetes mellitus type 2. O'Hara, 95 years old, passed peacefully in Boise (Idaho) on 24 October 2015.
